Renee Jimenez and Rob Bishop will lead the new era of CSUMB women's and men's basketball
New head men's and women's basketball coaches have been named at California State University, Monterey Bay. Both men's coach
Rob Bishop and women's coach Renee Jimenez will start June 16. These are the first full-time coaching positions in CSU Monterey Bay's athletic program, and they bring the university in line with other schools in the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA).
Bishop spent the past six seasons as an assistant coach for the men's team at Northern Arizona University, where he was responsible for recruiting and assisted with scouting and student-athlete academics. During his tenure, the Lumberjacks won two Big Sky Conference regular-season titles and earned a berth in the NIT.
For the past three years, Jimenez has been an assistant coach at San Diego State, where she helped to transform a program that had three wins in the 2005-06 season to a team that finished 18-13 last year, and assisted with recruiting, scouting and student-athlete academics. She spent a year before that as an intern at Stanford University for head coach Tara VanDerveer at the nationally prominent program.
