Seaside, Calif. - Senior #Matt DeJesus#, who is playing for the Waikiki Surfers this summer, has been named to the 2008 Makai Islanders All-Star team. The Islanders defeated the Mauka Warriors 3-0 on July 4 Les Murakami Stadium on University of Hawaii's campus.
The Waikiki Surfers (15-12) are currently in second place in the league, one game back from the Oahu Paddlers. Starting every game for the Surfers, DeJesus has notched six doubles, five triples, and 21 RBI at the halfway mark.
During the 2008 Otter season, DeJesus led the team in hits (64), RBI (43), home runs (7), and total bases (102). His best performance last year came against Grand Canyon University (Ariz.) where he connected on three home runs and posted a .412 batting average off seven hits.
“DeJesus is a one of the hardest workers on the team,” stated head coach
Rich Aldrete. “As team captain, he has the highest potential of being drafted next year.”
