The Sea Warriors took a quick 1-0 lead in the first inning on Caira Pires’s single up the middle to score Casey Sugihara.

HPU scored their final two runs in the top of the second inning on one hit and two CSUMB errors.

With one out, junior Cat Sampson showed her teammates that the HPU’s ace pitcher Sherise Musquiz was hittable when she crushed the ball off the left backfield wall to finish at third base. Junior Nicole Garcia drew a walk and freshman Skyler Valdivia came in to run for her. Sampson’s inch runner, Arleen Costa, scored on an attempted steal by Valdivia.

Junior Shae Olds blasted her 10th homer of the season to cut HPU’s lead to 3-2 in the bottom of the fourth inning.
