Coach Cummings speaking to the Salvation Army day campers.
SEASIDE, Calif. – Cal State Monterey Bay head coach
Rob Cummings and three members of the men's soccer team took some time to give back to the community last week when they did a surprise visit at The Salvation Army's summer day camp in Salinas.
"It was great having an opportunity to speak to some of the youth in Salinas about the importance of education," Cummings said. "Good grades enables more choices."
"The CSUMB men's soccer team brought a great afternoon to our day-campers," said Major Kris Potter. "Our kids were encouraged to do well in school, get to college and be a good citizen. These will lead to a world of opportunities. Soccer can help keep us focused on those things!"
Troy Blank,
Saydou Kamara and
Aaron Kochman joined Cummings to work with about 55 youth between the ages of 5-13 years old attending the six-week camp.
"Also, it was a great seeing Troy, Saydou, and Aaron working with the youth on soccer, a fun day looking forward to working more with the Salvation Army," Cummings said.
"The players and Coach's interaction with our young people made a life long impact in each of their lives," Potter said. "They are paving the way to the better things that lie in the future!"
