SEASIDE, Calif. — Cal State Monterey Bay used a relentless second-half attack to battle back from a pair of deficits and earn a 2–2 draw against Jessup at Cardinale Stadium on Senior Day. The Otters conclude non-conference play unblemished at 2-0-2.
CSUMB was on the attack throughout Saturday's 2–2 draw with Jessup, controlling possession in the attacking third and finishing with a commanding 31–4 advantage in shots and 10–1 edge in corner kicks.
The pressure intensified after halftime, with the Otters firing 17 second-half shots while limiting the Warriors to just two.
Despite the pressure, Monterey Bay found itself chasing the match after Jessup's first goal came following a VAR review that resulted in a penalty kick in the 32nd minute. The Otters continued to push forward and finally broke through when
Gianna Foss converted a penalty in the 77th minute to level the match at 1–1.
Jessup regained the lead against the run of play in the 85th minute, scoring directly from a free kick, but CSUMB answered just over two minutes later.
Juliana Dow finished a combination from
Ella Schug and
Jayme Gomez in the 87th minute to pull the Otters even for the second time.
The Otters continued pressing through the final whistle and finished with 27 more shots than Jessup, including eight on goal. Dow led the attack with a match-high eight shots, while Foss added five.
