TURLOCK, Calif. --- The Cal State Monterey Bay softball team finished its weekend at the Tournament of Champions presented by Mizuno with a loss to Seattle University 4-2 on Sunday. The Otters finished the tourney in the Gold Bracket, two wins away from the championship game.

#Angela Cabral# (7IP, 4ER) picked up the loss and is 12-7 after finishing the weekend 2-1 with a 2.07 ERA. Seattle (22-6) scored all of its runs in the third inning, which was capped by a three-run homer by Lauren Berin. #Alixis Villarin# (1RBI, 2H) led the Otters' offense. She hit a solo homerun in the fifth to make it 4-1 and then drilled a double in the seventh and scored on an error. #Marisa Trujillo# was the only other CSUMB batter to get a hit.

Erin Martin (14-2) pitched a complete game for the victory. The tournament is hosted by Cal State Stanislaus and held at Pedretti Park in Turlock. Humboldt State won the tournament with a 1-0 win over Cal State  Dominguez Hills in the final game. Nikki Ketteringham belted a solo home run in the fourth inning, the Lumberjacks' first of two in the game.

The Otters' finish in the Gold Bracket is an improvement over last year's first-place finish in the Bronze Bracket. They were ranked No. 9 in the Western Region heading into the tournament and defeated the second-ranked team in the region, Hawaii Pacific, on Saturday before losing to Seattle, ranked No. 4 in the West.
