Sailing in the first conference regatta of the season at Cal Maritime Academy in Vallejo, the CSUMB Otters sailed to the team's best finish ever.

Chelsea Bell started the day with finishes of 2, 2 and 1. Starting the second set with an 8th place finish, Herring and Bell came back to finish the day with a solid 3rd place finish in the 5th and last race of the day. Overall, Herring and Bell compiled only 16 points and finished first in the varsity “A” fleet. This marks the first time a CSUMB boat has won a varsity division. Sailing varsity “B”, Skipper

Brandon Wehman also had a very strong day, with finishes of 4, 5, 6, 6, and 5. Their total of 26 points was good enough for a 5th place finish in a fleet of 14 boats. Overall, the CSUMB varsity finished 2nd in the 7 school regatta.

Lauren Walters, sailing in her first regatta, rounded out an outstanding day for the Otters with finishes of 12, 2, 2, 2, and 3. Their total of 21 points captured 3rd place in the 14- boat fleet.
