Seaside, Calif. – California State University, Monterey Bay Athletic Department announced today the hiring of Mindy Mills as the new sports information director. Mills will be the first full-time SID in the Otter athletic department.
She was previously the Menlo College sports information director, a dual affiliate with the NCAA and NAIA, located in Atherton.
“Mindy Mills will be a wonderful addition to not only our athletic staff but the university as a whole,” stated Interim Director of Athletic Stephanie Duke. “She comes with a lot of experience and strong references. I know she will do great things at CSUMB for years to come.”
An Indiana native, Mills graduated from Indiana-Purdue Fort Wayne where she earned her masters in communication while serving as a graduate assistant in the sports information department. She was a vital asset as the university made the transition from Division II to Division I.
Mills will be responsible for the publicity of all 13 sports at CSUMB. Her primary duties include: gathering official statistics; producing literature about the teams (media guides, game day programs, etc.; distributing news releases to hometown, regional and national media; maintaining the athletics portion of the CSUMB web site; and coordination of all interview requests for players, coaches and staff. In addition Mills will directly oversee both live audio and video of select Otter contests via the Internet.
