Seaside, Calif. – For the second consecutive season, Cal State Monterey Bay has been picked seventh in the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) Preseason Coaches Polls.

"I am very pleased with our ranking in the coaches poll released today,” stated head coach Jody Garry. “After losing seven seniors, with five of those being starters you never know how it could go.”

Cal State San Bernardino, the two-time defending conference champion, has been picked as the preseason favorite with eight first place votes.

“I believe the change in our team’s performance last year left a lasting impression on the conference coaches,” commented Garry. “We have a very strong 08 class that will make an immediate impact on our team. The level of expectations has been raised not only within our team but how we are viewed by our opponents.”

The Otters open the 2008 season hosting back-to-back tournaments at the Otter Sports Center. The Otter Classic will feature five teams from across the nation including University of North Dakota, who is making the transition to NCAA Division I status. Click here for complete schedule.

The squad kicks off their NCAA nationally ranked conference schedule at home on Sept 12, hosting Cal State San Bernardino at 7 p.m. The Coyotes ended the 2007 season ranked No. 9 in the CSTV/AVCA Division II Coaches Poll. UC San Diego (No. 22), Cal State L.A. (No. 29) and Cal Poly Pomona (No. 30) also finished the year ranked in the Top 30.
