SAN FRANCISCO – In a final tune-up before the CCAA Championships next week, the Cal State Monterey Bay men's and women's cross country teams competed in the SF State Invitational on Friday afternoon.
The Otter men finished in 10th place with 311 points, led by junior #Vincent Carr# who placed 89th with a time of 28:43. Junior #Manual Ventura Plascencia# followed with a 91st finish (28:48) and junior #Fabian Rangel# placed 93rd (28:56). Seniors #Vincent Delgado# and #Alex Olson# recorded 106th and 107th places with times of 30:55 and 31:23 respectively. Sophomore #Travis Nelson# rounded out the CSUMB runners with a 110th place with a time of 32:13.
On the women's side, CSUMB took 13th place with 394 points. Sophomore #Hayley Tharp# led the Otters with a time of 25:03, finishing in 116th place. Finishing 19 seconds later, freshman #Mackenzie Morgan# captured 125th place with a time of 26:22. Sophomore #Tabbitha Bailey# was the next Otter to cross the line with a time of 26:48 for 131st place. Junior #Marie Beard# finished at 27:13 for 133rd while sophomore #Krista Sornborger# took 137th with a time of 27:44. Sophomore #Camille Sierra# and freshman #Marissa Aquilar# rounded out the CSUMB runners with 140th (27:59) and 151st (29:54) place.
University of Alaska Anchorage took top honors in both races with Marko Cheseto winning the men's individual title. Seattle Pacific's Jessica Pixler won on the women's side.
The Otters will be off until Oct. 24, when they travel to McKinleyville, to participate in the CCAA Championships hosted by Humboldt State.
