CSUMB Softball Inks Two National Letters of Intent

SEASIDE, Calif.
– Cal State Monterey Bay softball coach Andrea Kenney has signed a pair of players to National Letters of Intent, pitcher/infielder Shanae Gasperson and outfielder Stevie Trevino.

"I am very please to have Shanae and Stevie join the Otter Softball family," said head coach #Andrea Kenney#. "I am confident that they will both prove to be valuable additions the team."


A local three-sport standout from Salina's Notre Dame High School,  Shanae Gasperson was selected Female Athlete of the Year by the Monterey Herald and the Salinas Californian her junior year.  Last season, she was named to the Cal-Hi Sports Medium School All- State team after batting .375 and driving in 31 runs.

Gasperson earned All-League first team recognition in softball, volleyball and basketball her junior year.  During the summer, Gasperson plays for the Salinas Storm club team.


"Shannae is a great local prospect from a very well coached High School program," Kenney said. "She will step in and help the program in many ways. She is also outstanding in the classroom which makes her even more valuable to the softball program and the university."


Stevie Trevino
Stevie Trevino, a three-year starter for Spanish Springs High School (Reno), helping them to two State Championships.  She was named Nevada 4A High Desert All-League her sophomore and junior year.  Trevino played summer ball for American Attack 18 Gold for Jody Schwartz in 2009.

"Every now and then a student athlete comes on a visit and it is obvious that she is the perfect fit," Kenney said. "Stevie's speed and athleticism will have an immediate impact on the program. She is also a great student, exactly what we are looking for at CSUMB."
