Results

LACEY, Wash. - The Cal State Monterey Bay's top-ranked men's golf team captured second at the Saint Martin's Invitational held at The Golf Club at Hawks Prairie.

The Otters finished with a 36-hole team score of 586 on rounds of 296 and 290 to finish three strokes behind first place Saint Martin's University (583). Western Washington finished second with a score of 590, followed by day one leader University of British Columbia at 592.

CSUMB was paced by senior #Oskar Nystrom#, who carded a 73 to finish tied for fourth with a 1-over-par 145 (72-73).

Senior #Jason Simonetti# shot an even-par 72 today to finish with a score of 146, tying for sixth place.

Freshman #Dylan Jackson# carded his second consecutive 72 for a final score of 148 and tied at 14th.

Senior #John Jackson# shot a 71 today, rebounding after a first round score of 78, to finish tied for 20th while freshman #Jered Stone# took 43rd with a 153.

"I am extremely pleased with the finish," said head coach #Jason Owen#. "Our freshmen played solid for their first event and this shows we have good things coming our way.

"I can't express how proud I am of Oskar and Jason because they have both worked hard to make the changes I have asked and it is good to see it pay off."

Zach Dietz of Saint Martin's took the medalist honors with a score of 140.

The Otters continue their Washington trip, competing in the Western Washington Invitational on Tuesday, Sept. 28.
