Julie Heurung was named the California Collegiate Athletic Association’s (CCAA) Player of the Week for the week of Feb. 1-7 for her efforts in the Otters’ two conference wins last week.
Heurung, a junior from Ventura, Calif., turned in a pair of workman-like efforts that helped the Otters claim a road sweep of the always-difficult Sonoma State-Humboldt State road trip that enabled Cal State Monterey Bay to move into fourth place in the CCAA standings.
Heurung averaged 11.5 points and 14.0 rebounds while connecting on 53.3 percent of her field goal attempts. She opened the week by scoring eight points and collecting 14 rebounds in a 52-45 at Sonoma State.
The Otters' junior then posted a double-double, scoring 15 points and grabbing 14 rebounds, in a 73-59 win at Humboldt. It marked Heurung's first double-double of the season.
Cal State Monterey Bay returns to action on Wednesday when it visits San Francisco State.
