Final Results
MESA, Calif. – Beating out six nationally-ranked teams, the No. 18 Cal State Monterey Bay women’s golf team captured its first title of the 2010 spring season today, winning the Desert Invitational hosted Ashland University at Longbow Golf Course.
Three Otters turned in scores of seven strokes or more lower in the final round, as CSUMB posted a 36-hole team score of 624 (322-302) to finish ahead of No. 2 Grand Valley State by one shot. No. 7 Tarleton State claimed third (627) and No. 6 University of Indianapolis dropped into fourth (639). No. 16 California University of Pennsylvania rounded out the top five with a 641.
Sophomore
Courtney Soekland tied for second after carding a 1-over-par 73 today, finishing with a 10-over-par 152.
Senior
Cicilia Chudivan turned in a brilliant closing round of 72 to climb into fourth place with a final 36-hole total 153. Fellow senior
Leticia Halas turned in a solid closing round of 75 after shooting an 83 in the first round. Halas finished at 158 for the tournament, tied for 14th.
Junior
Darcy Lake tied for 19th with a 36-total of 161 and freshman
Gianna Waddy ended the day with a 177 for a three-way tie at 37th.
Tarleton State’s Carla Cooper was the individual medalist with a 5-over-par 147.
The Otters next compete in the InterWest Chico State Invitational on March 22-23 at Butte Creek Country Club.
