Men's Basketball Signs Jordan Garrett

April 27, 2010

SEASIDE, Calif.
– Head men's basketball coach #Rob Bishop# has announced the signing of Jordan Garrett, a 6'10” forward/center from Ventura High School.

“Jordan is an athletic versatile big man who can play inside and out,” Bishop said. “He runs very well in transition and is a very good rebounder and shot blocker who will make an immediate impact for us in those areas.  He will help to bolster our front line next year by being able to play several different positions.”

Garrett has been an All-Channel League and All-Ventura County player for the last two years.  He led the Ventura Cougars to the Southern Section Division 1A finals as a junior. During his senior season, Garrett overcame a broken wrist to play in 22 games and led the Cougars to another C.I.F. qualifying season.

On Feb. 17, Garrett posted a season-high 14 points in a heartbreaking loss to Lynwood High School, 93-92.

Garrett concluded his senior year with 137 total points, 101 rebounds, and 15 blocks.

“Jordan's improved play and leadership were crucial for a Ventura High team with 11 underclassmen, and only three returning lettermen,” said Dan Larson, Ventura head men's basketball coach.

“We are really excited to have signed not only a quality basketball player but a quality student and person,” Bishop said. “Jordan will be a great fit in our basketball program and a fun player to watch over the next four years.”
