- The Cal State Monterey Bay women's volleyball team concluded its weekend with a four-set victory over No. 24 Cal State East Bay on Saturday night at the Kelp Bed. Final scores were 25-21, 25-21, 20-25 and 25-22.

The Otters are off to their best start ever since making the move to NCAA Division II with a 6-1 overall record and 3-1 against California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) action.

"I am extremely proud of the team on how hard they have been working," said head coach #Jody Garry. "It is just real, the time you put in does matter. It is great to see that especially with  the CCAA being so tough."

"Team chemistry, we've got it," Garry said. "It is just growing. It is the first time we have had the 'With and for each other' both on and off the court."

The Pioneers were led by Kitona Offord and Sukhjit Athwal with eight kills each while libero Lauren Massa notched 18 digs.

The Otters travel to San Francisco State on Tuesday, Sept. 21 at 7 p.m.
