Dublin High School and Ohlone College product Nikki Beckman will be an exciting addition to the Otter backcourt for the 2012-13 season.
SEASIDE, Calif. — The Cal State Monterey Bay women's basketball team is just getting into the meat of its 2011–12 schedule, but Head Coach Renee Jimenez is already making her 2012–13 team stronger by signing Dublin High School/Ohlone College guard Nikki Beckman to a national letter of intent.
“Nikki is a scoring guard who can also defend well on the perimeter which will make her a great fit for the Otters,” says Jimenez. “She plays for a great coach at Ohlone College in Julia Allender who will continue to develop Nikki into an even more complete player.”
Beckman is currently a redshirt freshman at Ohlone College, averaging 6.6 points, 3.4 assists and 4.3 rebounds per game for the Renegades. She will have three seasons of eligibility with the Otters.
A four–time All–Diablo Foothill Athletic League selection at Dublin High School, Beckman earned second team honors as a junior in 2009 when she led the Gaels to the DFAL title and a berth in the CIF North Coast Section Division III championship game. In all, she led Dublin to four NCS Division III semifinal appearances.
In addition to playing basketball, Beckman was an All–DFAL pick in softball and a CIF NCS qualifier in track.
“Nikki loves competition and works extremely hard both on the court and in the classroom,” adds Jimenez. “She has great poise for her age, sees the floor extremely well and will immediately make an impact with our team. "Our fans are going to enjoy watching Nikki fill up the bucket for many years to come in The Kelp Bed and we are excited to welcome Nikki and her family to ours.”
GO OTTERS!
