POMONA, Calif. — A frigid first half put the Cal State Monterey Bay women's basketball team in a deep freeze from which it couldn't thaw in a 58–38 loss at No. 16 Cal Poly Pomona Thursday night in Kellogg Gym.

CSUMB sophomore center Mykayla Harris (Orange/Villa Park HS) needed just one half to post her first career double–double, heading to the lockerroom with 10 points and 10 rebounds. But, as a team, the Otters finished the period with only 16 points on 7–of–38 (18.4 percent) shooting from the floor.

They weren't much better in the second half, but pulled to within eight points midway through the final period thanks to a defense that forced 18 Bronco turnovers and compiled a 48–46 rebounding edge.

Harris led CSUMB with 13 points and a career–high 14 rebounds. The 14 rebounds were a career high for Harris and matched the team season high set by Ashley Morgan (Rohnert Park/Santa Rosa JC) Jan. 11 at UC San Diego. Harris' double–double was just the second by an Otter this season and the first since Alexous Robinson (Dublin/Ohlone College) scored 12 points and pulled down 12 boards against Sonoma State on Jan. 25.

CSUMB heads to extreme Northern California to conclude its 4–game roadtrip by taking on Humboldt State in Arcata on Saturday.

GO OTTERS!
