Reinhardt, Kenney Top List of CCAA Award Winners

MODESTO, Calif. — The No. 3 Cal State Monterey Bay softball team continued its history–making season on an individual level Friday morning when junior Cori Reinhardt (Riverside Poly) became the first player in Otter softball history to be named the CCAA Most Valuable Player at the CCAA Championship Tournament Awards Brunch at the Stockton Hilton.

Joining Reinhardt in earning CCAA top honors was Head Coach Andrea Kenney (@Andrea_Kenney), who earned her second CCAA Coach of the Year nod (2010) after guiding CSUMB to its third CCAA title in the last six seasons.

Reinhardt earned her accolade by leading the Otters both in the circle and at the plate. As a pitcher, she posted a 12–4 mark, a 1.81 ERA and a CCAA–best .191 opponent batting average in 21 conference appearances. As a hitter, .she batted .342 with a .553 slugging percentage and a .991 OPS while splitting time between second base, third base, shortstop and left field.

Joining Reinhardt on the All–CCAA first team were freshman first baseman Madison Casto (Sunnyvale/Homestead HS) and sophomore designated player Bianca Noriega (Ventura/Camarillo HS). Casto hit .368 while handling 250 chances without an error in 31 conference games this season while Noriega hit .469 with an incredible 1.171 OPS in conference play.

Sophomore pitcher Lindsey Clarkson (Fresno/Central HS) picked up a second team All–CCAA award after going 12–2 with a 2.12 ERA against CCAA competition this season. Junior third baseman Alissa Greenhaw (Galt/Cosumnes River College) earned a spot among the honorable mention performers.

CSUMB (44–7 overall) begins postseason play Thursday evening as the No. 1 seed in the CCAA Tournament, facing No. 4 seed Sonoma State (35–19) at 4:30 p.m. to kickoff the double–elimination competition. No. 6 Humboldt State (43-13) takes on UC San Diego (33–14) in the other half of the bracket.

The tournament runs through Sunday, May 4 at Arnaiz Stadium in Stockton.
