CARSON, Calif. -- It took an extra period for this game to be decided, but in the end it was the Cal State Monterey Bay Men's Basketball team that came out on top against Cal State Dominguez Hills on Friday night in the ToroDome. It was a layup by
Marquise Washington (Los Angeles/Westchester HS) that kick started the Otters in overtime, leading them to a 74–69 win on the road.
It was a back and forth first half that featured five ties and four lead changes, but the Otters came away with a two–point edge at the half, ahead 33–31. The second half was more of the same with neither team leading by more than seven by points when the Otters led 49–42 at 11:57 mark. From then on the Otters were outscored 16–10 to end the half, warranting a tie game at 59–59, sending the game into overtime.
The Otter offense was led by Washington in OT, who had seven of the 16 points for the Otters in the five–point win. Washington tied a season–high with 16 points in the win. Washington was also a perfect 6–for–6 from the line, the first time he has done so this season., ,
Greg Anderson (Murrieta/Paloma Valley HS) led CSUMB with 20 points (64.3%FG) and was one rebound short of a double–double.
The Otters improve to 11–12, 7–10 CCAA and will face Cal State L.A. tomorrow night in Los Angeles.
