TURLOCK, Calif. — The Cal State Monterey Bay women's basketball team tried to plough through its coldest shooting night of the season but couldn't find enough buckets to overcome Stanislaus State in a 56–45 loss Friday night in Fitzpatrick Arena.
CSUMB shot only 25 percent (16–63) from the floor Friday. For its part, Stanislaus didn't exactly shoot the lights out, connecting on just 33 percent (18–54) from the field. But the Warriors out–rebounded the Otters 52–28, including 19 offensive rebounds.
Senior guard
Victoria Dorn (Seaside HS) got hot late, connecting on 3–of–5 3-pointers in the fourth quarter after opening the game 1–for–7 from long range. She finished with a team–leading 14 points.
THE GAME WAS STATISTICALLY OVER WHEN… Regan Hardin grabbed the rebound off a missed
Victoria Dorn 3–pointer and Stanislaus leading 54–45 with 31 seconds remaining.
STARTING FLAT IN THE FITZ… The Otters scored just seven points in the opening quarter Friday night, the lowest scoring first quarter of the season and the third lowest scoring overall quarter in Otter history. Perhaps it's just the venue, however. CSUMB scored only four points in the first quarter in Fitzpatrick Arena last season.
BOMBS AWAY… By making four 3–pointers Friday night,
Victoria Dorn is keeping pace in the race to lead the nation in 3–point field goals. She entered the game ranked No. 2 nationally with 34 treys (4.25 per game).

THE LAST WORD… "We didn't hit shots tonight and they out–hustled us to too many rebounds and loose balls. We hit some threes late to close the gap, but need to not dig ourselves a hole to begin with in the next game to be in a better position." –
CSUMB Head Coach Kerri Nakamoto
THEY'VE GOT NEXT… The Otters continue their 5–game roadtrip at Sonoma State with a 5:30 p.m. tip on Saturday. The game will be played at the College of Marin in Kentfield due to construction at Sonoma's on campus facility.
GO OTTERS!
